Pirna (dpa/sn) - The Pirna-based state dam administration invested around 111 million euros in Saxon water management in 2022. Among other things, money was spent on the natural development of water bodies and the elimination of flood damage, the administration announced on Wednesday.

Most of the money was spent this year on the construction and renovation of flood protection systems and on the renovation, maintenance and adjustment of dams and flood retention basins, it said. In the future, the focus should be more on the controlled retention of floods in the flood plains with polders. This is to reduce damage.
