Syria: Israeli strike kills two civilians

Syrian state news agency Sana mourned the death of two civilians in an Israeli strike in Syria on the night of Monday April 3 to Tuesday April 4. This is the fourth such attack in less than a week, Sana said. Israeli strikes were launched from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and "targeted areas around Damascus and in the southern region", Sana continued, adding that Syrian air defense intercepted "most between them ".

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), "Israeli missiles targeted the area of Damascus International Airport, an Iranian compound near the Sayyidah Zeinab area" and another location in al-Kiswah. At least two of the missiles were intercepted, added the OSDH, an organization based in London and which has an extensive network of sources in Syria.

In recent years, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria against positions of the regime, but also against those of Iranian forces and Hezbollah, allies of Damascus and sworn enemies of Israel. This is the fourth Israeli raid against Syria in six days.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, two pro-Iranian fighters were killed and five Syrian soldiers injured in a raid in Homs, in central Syria. Other raids targeted Damascus on Thursday and Friday.

Syria is ravaged by a civil war, triggered by the 2011 crackdown on pro-democracy protests and which has become more complex over the years with the intervention of several countries and foreign armed groups.
