Thuringia: 55 monuments in Thuringia funded with 1.5 million euros

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The German Foundation for Monument Protection funded 55 monuments in Thuringia last year with around 1.5 million euros. For example, the preservation and restoration of a 200-year-old picture wallpaper in the Waldhaus Japan in Bleicherode could be supported with almost 13,000 euros, the private, non-profit foundation announced on Monday.

The Tüngeda windmill in Hörselberg-Hainich, Wiehe Castle in Roßleben, the monastery school in Roßleben and the village church of St. Crucis in Abtsbessingen also received financial support in 2022. "Each of these monuments represents a unique treasure," it said.

In 2022, the monument protection foundation supported a total of 650 objects nationwide with around 27.5 million euros. The funding program includes private and public monuments such as churches, monasteries, palaces, castles, town houses, technical monuments, archaeological excavations and historical parks.
