Thuringia: Around 100,000 euros in damage to property in a barn fire

Schmölln (dpa/th) - A barn caught fire in Schmölln in Altenburger Land. The police could not say in the morning how the fire came about on Thursday night in the Sommeritz district. According to them, the flames spread to a neighboring barn, but the fire brigade managed to prevent it from spreading further to a residential building. Wind made extinguishing the fire difficult in the morning. Because embers kept igniting, the fire brigade stayed on site in the morning. No people were injured. According to the police, the property damage is estimated at 100,000 euros.
