Erfurt (dpa/th) - After the deadline for submitting property tax returns was extended, receipts in Thuringia have decreased significantly. "Between 40 and 70 percent fewer declarations are now being received every day than in the days before the announced extension of the deadline," said Finance State Secretary Hartmut Schubert on Tuesday.
Before the decision was made to extend the deadline to January 31, the receipt had even increased in the previous week. The tax offices received up to 9,300 declarations online every day. After the decision was made to extend the deadline, the number of declarations received online fell to just under 5,300 declarations. That was to be expected, because many people like to postpone the declaration if they know that there is still time, emphasized Schubert.
