Thuringia: district day: follow the 49-euro ticket in bus traffic

Magdeburg/Halle (dpa/th) - The President of the Saxony-Anhalt District Council, Götz Ulrich (CDU), has expressed concern about the possible effects of the 49-euro ticket on regional bus transport in the state. "The bus companies don't know what impact the ticket will have on their income," said Ulrich, who is also a district administrator in the Burgenland district, of the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" (Monday). If the federal and state governments do not fully compensate for the losses incurred, "we will have to thin out the traffic," Ulrich told the newspaper.

After the success of the 9-euro ticket in the summer of 2022, the federal and state governments had agreed on a 49-euro ticket as the successor. On Wednesday, the federal cabinet launched a draft law that regulates, among other things, the financial participation of the federal government. In addition to the Bundestag and Bundesrat, the EU Commission must also agree. The so-called Deutschlandticket is scheduled to start on May 1st and will be valid nationwide on local public transport.
