Thuringia: drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol drive into the ditch

Kölleda (dpa/th) - A drunk driver drove into a ditch during a police check in Kölleda (Sömmerda district). The officers stopped the 34-year-old in the night from Friday to Saturday in the Dermsdorf district for a check, the police said on Sunday. The vehicle suddenly drove to the right into the ditch and overturned. Officials did not say whether the driver was injured. He is said to have previously taken cannabis, amphetamine and opiates. A breath alcohol test also showed 0.25 per thousand. The police confiscated his driver's license and filed a drunk driving report. There was property damage of around 5000 euros.
