Erfurt/Berlin (dpa/th) - In January, four children from the parish of St. Laurentius in Erfurt travel as carol singers to Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) in the Federal Chancellery in Berlin. The two girls and two boys from the fourth to sixth grades will represent the diocese of Erfurt at the Sternsinger reception, as the diocese announced on Tuesday. They had taken part in the carol singers' competition.
The carol singers in Thuringia collected a little more than 350,000 euros this year, it said. On January 5, Scholz will receive 108 carol singers from all 27 German dioceses. The motto of this year's campaign is "Strengthen children, protect children - in Indonesia and worldwide".
