Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) is 163 times godfather. The large group of sponsored children brought with it his office as Prime Minister, which is associated with honorary sponsorships for children from large families. At a godparents' party at the invitation of the State Chancellery, around 120 people - children and their family members - cavorted in Erfurt's egapark on Friday. Coffee tables were set there. A small program was offered for the children.
In Thuringia, at the request of the family, heads of government take over the honorary sponsorship from the sixth child, in the case of multiple births this is possible from triplets. It comes with a monetary gift. The honorary sponsorship ends when the children are six years old. Ramelow's godchildren currently include 9 pairs of twins, 19 triplets and two quadruplets, as well as 80 single godchildren.
Normally, the State Chancellery invites to the godchildren's festival every two years. Because of the corona pandemic, the break since the previous meeting was twice as long this time. According to the State Chancellery, 109 further honorary sponsorships have been added since the last meeting in 2018.
