Thuringia: "Goldener Spatz" is looking for films and digital offers again

Erfurt/Gera (dpa/th) - "And please!": Filmmakers can apply with their productions for the German children's media festival "Goldener Spatz" in the coming year. Until December 16, it is possible to submit German-language films and contributions for children up to the age of twelve for the competition, as the organizers announced on Friday. Digital and audiovisual media offers under the motto "Good stories. Digitally told" can be submitted until January 15th.

The "Golden Sparrows" awarded by a children's jury are awarded in both competitions in five categories. The festival will be held again in Gera and Erfurt from June 4th to 10th next year. This year, the children's jury chose the historical adventure film "The Path - The Story of an Escape to Freedom" by director Tobias Wiemann as the best feature film. In 2023, around 30 young film and media fans between the ages of 9 and 13 from Germany and other German-speaking countries will form the jury.

The annual festival is considered the largest of its kind in Germany and is aimed equally at young audiences and trade visitors.
