"Sad certainty": McFit confirms the death of founder Rainer Schaller

Well then: McFit founder Rainer Schaller is dead. According to the company, he is being identified by the authorities in Costa Rica. After a small plane crashed off the coast of Costa Rica, only two of the six occupants were found.

Rainer Schaller, the founder of the fitness chain McFit, is dead. The company confirmed this on Instagram. About two weeks ago, Schaller and five other people crashed aboard a small plane off the coast of Costa Rica. Initially, only two bodies were found, and the search for the other inmates had to be interrupted repeatedly due to bad weather. The search operation was finally ended just two days ago.

"It is with great dismay that we have received the sad certainty that our founder Rainer Schaller and his son have been identified as having died in the plane crash in Costa Rica. His partner, her daughter, one of our colleagues and the pilot, who were also on board, are on board continue to be among the missing," writes the company, among other things, on Instagram.

Rainer Schaller was born in Bamberg, Bavaria, in 1969 and founded his first fitness studio in Würzburg in 1997. He relied on the discount principle in the fitness sector and created a huge studio chain with McFit.

Schaller also hit the headlines as the rights holder in connection with the Loveparade disaster in Duisburg in 2010, with 21 dead and more than 650 injured. However, no investigations were ever carried out against him as the then head of the organizer company.
