Erfurt (dpa/th) - For Thuringia's construction industry, 2022 was a good year with significantly increased sales. However, they were also influenced by higher construction costs. The revenue of companies in the main construction trades with at least 20 employees rose by 169.6 million euros to 2.5 billion euros, as announced by the State Statistical Office in Erfurt on Tuesday. The increase compared to the previous year was 7.4 percent. The positive trend was also reflected in incoming orders.
In the order books of construction companies there were orders totaling 2.3 billion euros, 121.0 million euros or 5.5 percent more than in 2021. Commercial and residential construction in particular recorded a significant increase in incoming orders, while public and road construction remained relatively stable. The state office did not present price-adjusted figures.
Around 14,000 people were employed in Thuringia’s main construction trades in 2022.
