Thuringia: Gotha special show on Freemasons and Mysteries of Egypt

Gotha (dpa/th) - The Friedenstein Castle Foundation in Gotha is dedicating its large special exhibition this year to the Freemasons and mysteries of Egypt. From the end of April, the exhibition will provide insights into the early phase of Freemasonry in Thuringia, as the director of the foundation, Tobias Pfeifer-Helke, announced in Gotha on Wednesday.

A large number of original objects provide information about who the members of the Masonic lodge were and how the secret societies worked socially. In addition to Freemasonry and the Illuminati order in Gotha during the reign of Ernst II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, the show will also take a look at the mystery culture of Ancient Egypt until mid-October, it was said.

According to Pfeifer-Helke, the foundation also wants to continue digitizing its holdings this year. In addition to the digitization of the coin collection, which has already begun, the recording of the graphic holdings is to begin this year. With "Gotha-digital", a collection and presentation portal for Friedenstein should also go online in April.
