Thuringia: heavy transporter slips down embankment at A9

Triptis (dpa/th) - A heavy-duty truck has slid down a ten-meter-deep embankment on Autobahn 9 between the Lederhose and Triptis junctions (Saale-Orla-Kreis). According to the first estimate, the accident on Tuesday night caused property damage of around 850,000 euros, as the police announced on Tuesday. The heavy transporter had loaded a tram and drove towards Munich. For an unknown reason, he left the roadway to the right and broke through a guardrail. The 53-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
