Thuringia: horse euthanized after a serious accident

Sonneborn (dpa/th) - The trip to freedom ended fatally for a horse in the Gotha district. In the early morning hours on Monday, a woman was driving her car on the road between Sonneborn and Eberstädt when suddenly several escaped horses crossed the road. She hit one of the animals head-on with her car, as the Gotha State Police Inspectorate announced. The horse was so badly injured that it had to be euthanized. The driver suffered minor injuries and the property damage was estimated at around 10,000 euros. The other horses were captured by the owner, police said.
