Thuringia: Left-wing politician wants higher blind money

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The deputy left-wing parliamentary group leader, Karola Stange, has demanded an increase in the state allowance for blind people. Since 2018, the monthly allowance of currently 400 euros has not increased, said Stange on Sunday. "That means we haven't accounted for any price increases for more than four years."

Even the everyday aids that are necessary for the life and social participation of deaf, blind or deaf-blind people have not been exempt from the cost increases, said Stange. In the current budget debate, an increase in the so-called sensory disability allowance must therefore be discussed. According to the information, a national average of 472 euros is paid for blind money.
