Thuringia: money for the preservation of historic organs in Thuringia

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The restoration of historical organs in Thuringia will be supported with 105,000 euros this year. The money from the funding program of the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen and the Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology will go to nine parishes, according to a statement. This could be used to restore the organs of the Protestant churches in Oechsen (Wartburg district), Frauenwald (Ilm district) and Muntscha (Greiz).

The corresponding notifications of funding will be handed over on site on Monday and Tuesday. The churches in Thuringia house an extraordinarily rich stock of historical organs. According to the information, 106 organ projects have already been supported over the past 13 years through the joint funding of the foundation and the state office.
