Erfurt (dpa/th) - The new President of the Thuringian State Audit Office, Kirsten Butzke, handed over the 2022 annual report of her authority to the President of the State Parliament, Birgit Keller (left), in Erfurt on Wednesday. The state audit office regularly examines the financial situation in the Free State and also reports on examples of the inefficient use of tax money. Butzke had already declared before taking office that, like her predecessor Sebastian Dette, she wanted to present the work of the Court of Auditors regularly to the public. The 2022 annual report will be presented to the public on July 11.
Butzke had already shown what to expect from her in June. She criticized what she saw as too generous regulations for Thuringian teachers. In view of the large number of shortage subjects or a lack of teachers in certain areas, it is incomprehensible that the Ministry of Education is simply letting urgently needed teachers go, she said to Helmut Holter (left) at the Ministry of Education.
The fact that the age limit for early retirement was lowered from 63 to 62 in 2012 is very generous compared to other federal states. The fact that teachers from the age of 55 are released from teaching obligations is also the most generous regulation nationwide. There is a lot of untapped potential for using teachers' working hours to secure lessons.
