Apolda (dpa/th) - A man was killed and 13 people injured in the fire in an apartment building in Apolda early on Sunday morning. The fire broke out in the attic for reasons that are still unknown and then spread to the whole house, the situation center said.
A 53-year-old tried to escape from the flames by jumping out of the window and died. Firefighters got 30 residents out of the home. Eleven tenants and two firefighters were injured.
The house is said to be uninhabitable. Alternative accommodation is being sought for the residents. No information has yet been given about the cause of the fire.
