Thuringia: Refugees in Greiz are still housed in tents

Greiz (dpa/th) - In Greiz, around 25 refugees are currently being accommodated in tents because there is not enough living space. Three tents "for the temporary accommodation of refugees" were set up on the premises of the community accommodation "because the capacity of living space in the district was exhausted," said a spokeswoman for the district on Tuesday.

District Administrator Martina Schweinsburg (CDU) said she organized the army tents herself. With a view to the approaching frost, attempts are being made to accommodate the people in the tents in apartments as soon as possible, according to the district office.

Of the 50 people initially housed in the tent, only half are currently housed there. You could use the sanitary and common areas of the shared accommodation. Schweinsburg himself said last week: "If the hard frost comes, then we have to get the people out of the tent camps and into massive buildings".

The districts have been complaining for a long time that the accommodation of the Ukraine refugees has reached its capacity limits. More people, asylum seekers and refugees from Ukraine, are expected in by the end of the year.
