Thuringia: Six-year-old hit by car and seriously injured

Bernterode (dpa/th) - A six-year-old boy was hit by a car in the Eichsfeld district and was seriously injured. The little boy was walking with his relatives between the villages of Gerterode and Bernterode on Sunday evening when he suddenly ran onto the street, the police said on Monday. He was hit by the car and seriously injured. After first aid, a rescue helicopter took the boy to a hospital. The 66-year-old driver was not injured in the accident. A crisis intervention team took care of the relatives and the driver on site. The police have started the investigation.
