Thuringia: State parliament decides higher official tariffs

Erfurt (dpa / th) - The civil servants in Thuringia receive a higher salary. As of December 1 of this year, their income will increase by 2.8 percent. The state parliament decided on Thursday and thus adopted the wage increase for employees in the public sector for civil servants as well. This is accompanied by improvements in the family allowance for civil servants who have at least three children and a clothing allowance for tax investigators.

With the higher salary, the Free State is again taking on its responsibility for just and fair remuneration for its employees, said SPD MP Janine Merz. According to the Ministry of Finance, the state will incur additional annual costs of almost 60 million euros from 2023 with the higher salary.

The tbb civil servants' association and tariff union Thuringia had demanded inflation compensation. The drastic increases in the cost of living also lead to massive real wage losses in the public sector. Therefore, a further increase in salary is required in the near future, the umbrella organization for currently 34 trade unions demanded.

Finance Minister Heike Taubert (SPD) pointed out that the state government had no leeway and that collective bargaining results had to be transferred one-to-one for civil servants. The promised energy flat rate will also be implemented by law for civil servants, the minister announced.
