Thuringia: Thuringia wants to advertise with surcharges for teachers

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia wants to use new posters to attract teachers with surcharges, side entry and civil servants. "Secure yourself the special surcharge!" is written on the advertising banners. "Thuringia can be seen in the nationwide competition, and we are recruiting every single teacher for our schools," said Minister of Education Helmut Holter (left) on Friday.

The special surcharge is to be given to newly hired, civil servant teachers who meet two of three criteria: required subject, required region, required school type. It is to be paid over a period of five years and amounts to ten percent of the starting salary.

The posters also advertise the possibility of side entry. Side entrants do not receive the special allowance. The salary advertised on the posters for salary or classification level A13/E13 also does not apply to them. The advertised special bonus does not exist for teachers who are employed under collective bargaining agreements, but only for civil servants.
