Sömmerda (dpa/th) - Unknown perpetrators blew up two cigarette machines in the Erfurt area on Saturday night. First it hit an automat in Haßleben (district of Sömma) one hour after midnight, as the police announced on Saturday. The perpetrators fled with an unknown amount of cash and packs of cigarettes, the property damage was estimated at 3500 euros. It is unclear what explosive was used.
About an hour after the first crime, a cigarette vending machine was blown up in the Büßleben district of Erfurt, 25 kilometers away. A police spokesman was initially unable to say anything about the damage there. Because of the spatial and temporal proximity, it was "very likely" that the same perpetrators were involved, it said.
