"Unhappy for ten years": Harald Glööckler reveals reasons for separation

Harald Glööckler has been living separately from his husband for a long time. After more than 35 years of relationship, the designer has now filed for divorce. In an interview he reveals the reasons and makes a sad confession.

"At some point you have to admit that it's just not possible anymore": Designer Harald Glööckler spoke in an interview with "Bild am Sonntag" about the reasons for the divorce from Dieter Schroth. The couple, who had been together for 35 years, got married in 2015.

Glööckler has been living separately from his husband for a year, and now he has decided "that I want to bring this separation to an end - by applying to the district court to dissolve our registered civil partnership".

In the interview, the designer also explained: "Our love became a kind of attachment because one wanted to hold on to the other. Eventually we became used to each other so that our relationship was really just a shared apartment. We have together, but we didn't live together. And today I know that closeness can also alienate."

Elsewhere, he told the paper he desperately wanted "my relationship to work. And I didn't want to admit that it didn't work. But the truth is, I've been unhappy in my relationship for the past ten years."

The designer and entrepreneur Harald Glööckler is particularly known for his pompous glitter creations. In 1987 he opened his first store together with Dieter Schroth. In 1990 the two founded the fashion label "Pompöös". Glööckler also made a name for himself on television, among other things he had his own personality documentary "Glööckler, Glanz und Gloria" and was a juror on "Let's Dance".

At the beginning of 2022, the designer was also one of the participants in the 15th season of "I'm a star – get me out of here!", was eliminated in the jungle camp semifinals and ended up fourth on the reality TV show.
