Unions: Verdi country chief Gross calls for energy price caps

The head of the Verdi services union has spoken out in favor of limiting energy prices. "We need an intelligent energy price cap," said Martin Gross of the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Wednesday).

In order not to get into the gas shortage situation in winter, energy must be saved. Incentives are needed for this, and people still have to make ends meet. "Basic consumption must be affordable. Those who save shouldn't panic about the utility bills," demanded the trade unionist.

Several scientists have already proposed a gas price cap to Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens). "In my opinion, politicians also want to keep the pressure in the boiler high so that people save energy," said Gross. But politics will have to do something like an energy price cap. "The situation calls for such an answer."
