US President Joe Biden and his wife will visit Rolling Fork, Mississippi, on March 31, a week after the southern state was devastated by a tornado that killed at least 25 people.
"The President and First Lady [Jill Biden] will visit first responders, state and local officials, and communities affected by the devastation of recent storms, inspect recovery efforts, and reaffirm their commitment to supporting the people of Mississippi on as long as necessary," the White House said in a statement.
The National Weather Service classified last Friday's tornado as category 4 (on the Fujita scale of 5), with ferocious winds of up to 320 km/h.
The phenomenon left a trail of havoc more than 100 miles long across the state.
Destroyed houses, demolished buildings and crushed vehicles followed one another in a matter of seconds in this town of 2,000 inhabitants.
President Joe Biden on Sunday ordered the deployment of federal aid, which is used to put up temporary housing, repair others and provide soft loans to cover losses from uninsured property.
