The association of large construction companies in Spain, Seopan, has issued a statement threatening legal action if the government tries to discriminate against Ferrovial.
"Given the disqualifications of all kinds that the company is being subjected to by the mere adoption of a decision that only seeks to comply with the obligation that concerns its governing bodies to carry out the best management of the interests of its shareholders and investors, Seopan must record its absolute rejection and its willingness to exercise any actions that may correspond to any measure that, in violation of current legislation, may constitute unequal or discriminatory treatment of the company in the exercise of its business activity in Spain. » Thus, he comes out against initiatives by members of the coalition government and investiture partners to exercise reprisals against the group chaired by Rafael del Pino.
On the other hand, the association chaired by Julián Núñez says that it reacts "to the inaccurate information and unfair disqualifications that in recent days have been poured out from different areas inside and outside the Government against the Ferrovial company, as a consequence of its decision to transfer the registered office of the head of the business group to the Netherlands”. He denies seeking tax benefits.
Among Seopan's partners is Ferrovial itself and large competitors such as Acciona, ACS, FCC, OHLA or Sacyr, but it should not be taken as a statement from all of them. "Neither the intention of issuing a press release, nor its content, were previously brought to the attention of the associated companies," says Núñez himself in an explanatory note, who decided to launch it in the exercise of his powers at the head of the association. "Consequently, the statement issued by SEOPAN must be considered solely and exclusively as my opinion and assessment," he stresses.
