The Romanian Air Force's surveillance system has detected an aerial target that resembled a weather balloon flying in the country's airspace, the Romanian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Two MiG 21 LanceR aircraft have been dispatched to the area in southeastern Romania ten minutes after the sighting, but have been unable to confirm the presence of the target, the ministry said, adding that the balloon was flying at a speed of up to 20 km. /h.
