British police are investigating whether the murder of Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old transgender Tiktoker whose body was found this weekend, was a hate crime.

Police arrested two teenagers on suspicion of murder on Saturday after finding Ghey's body on a path in a town near Warrington, 200 miles northwest of London.

Police initially noted that there was no evidence to suggest that the circumstances surrounding the death were hate related. However, after questioning the suspects - a boy and a girl, both 15 years old - police have said they are looking into all possible motives for the murder.

"All lines of inquiry are being explored, including whether it was a hate crime," Cheshire Police said. "Please continue to avoid online speculation and be cautious when sharing misinformation related to this case," they added.

At a tribute to Ghey on Tuesday, her family said she was "strong, fearless and one of a kind." In addition, a vigil has been organized in Liverpool for tonight.

LGBTQ campaign group Stonewall UK has also dedicated a few words to her, saying "our thoughts are with Brianna Ghey, a young trans woman, and her loved ones, following her tragic murder in Cheshire."
