Transporte Ouigo launches this Thursday its high-speed line between Madrid, Albacete and Alicante

The third Ouigo line in Spain opens today, Thursday 27 April. This new route will connect the Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station with the Albacete-Los Llanos and Alacant-Terminal stations in less than two and a half hours.

The first service with passengers will take place at 2:00 p.m. departing from Alicante and will arrive in Madrid around 4:23 p.m.

The line will have two daily round-trip frequencies (4 journeys) and tickets, which can be purchased from March 28, start at a general price of 9 euros, with a flat rate of 5 euros for children aged 4 and 13 years old and free for children up to 3 years old as long as they travel in the arms of an adult.

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, will preside over the departure of the special circulation train that will take media and institutions from Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor to Alacant-Terminal at 09:30.

The first part of the line's opening ceremony will be held in the latter city at 12:05 p.m., followed by another event in Albacete-Los Llanos at 2:25 p.m. Both events will be attended by the general director of Ouigo Spain, Hélène Valenzuela, as well as the main local and sector institutions.

"Alicante will have a direct connection with the financial heart of Madrid, while Madrid will have a new window to the Mediterranean Sea, after circulation began last October on the Madrid-Valencia line with three daily round-trips", the company has pointed out.
