Instagram post: Verona Pooth with a blatant type change: she now wears braids

Verona Pooth is about to get her next big TV job, which will allow her to travel through Thailand for eleven days with the television station ProSieben. For the climatically rather hot and humid country, the 54-year-old now had a new hairstyle made of many braided pigtails.

The procedure to create a new braid hairstyle from Verona Pooth's thick, brown hair took six hours. Two hairdressers from Düsseldorf worked on the moderator for more than half a day until she released the result in her Instagram stories for the survey. When she asked her almost 620,000 Instagram followers for their opinion which hairstyle they liked better, the new braids or the old Walla Walla mane, a clear result came to light. 77 percent prefer the old version of the moderator.

Although the presenter does not reveal exactly which filming assignment she is traveling to Thailand for, but which celebrity will apparently be seen with her in the TV format: Wigald Boning.

But not only the fashion opinion of Pooths fans is clear, many comments also go in the direction of "cultural appropriation", i.e. cultural appropriation. This means that societies adopt certain cultural components for fashion reasons. The accusation is to take culture out of context. This problem was recently raised when a band in Switzerland played reggae music wearing dreadlocks, but they are all fair-skinned. When complaints from the audience were heard, the band Lauwarm's concert was even canceled.

But not all followers agree on this topic. Comments can be read such as: "A very sensitive topic. There is talk of 'racist colonial appropriation', perhaps you would like to find out more before the shoot to be on the safe side", but there were also opposing voices, such as this comment: "One A woman with Bolivian roots has black hairstylists do her braids. And here white people sense cultural appropriation."
