Ozzy Osbourne: Metal legend surprises with live comeback

Numerous fans have been worried about heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne (73) in recent months. Because it was only in June of this year that the ex-Black Sabbath frontman had to undergo a serious operation in Los Angeles. But now Osbourne surprisingly gave his stage comeback in his hometown of Birmingham. The singer performed in front of 30,000 spectators together with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi (74).

The Prince of Darkness and his former bandmate Iommi performed their iconic 1970 hit "Paranoid," arguably the rockers' most famous number, at the closing ceremony of the 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. There is also a short video of the performance on the official Twitter account of the sporting event.

The surprise gig marks Osbourne's first live performance after nearly two years of hiatus. Most recently, he gave a concert in Mannheim in November 2020. After Osbourne had to have an operation in June this year, his wife Sharon (69) had meanwhile calmed down that the musician was doing better.

Osbourne has suffered from serious neck health problems since an accident involving a quad vehicle in 2003. At the beginning of January 2020, he also announced that he had Parkinson's disease.
