"Samaritan" trailer: Sly Stallone shines as a superhero

Thanks to "Samaritan", Sylvester Stallone (76) finally has her, his first leading role in a superhero film. An official trailer has now been released for the fantasy flick, which will not be released in cinemas but will be available to all Prime Video users from August 26th. In it, Stallone, as the title character, forges a hammer that could even make Thor jealous, slips into an imposing hero suit and shows little or no old age in the fight against the town's bad guys.

"Samaritan" tells the story of 13-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon Walton, 16). The boy wants to get to the bottom of his old neighbor Joe Smith's secret. And indeed: the garbage man turns out to be a former superhero Samaritan, who was believed dead, but who has long since retired and initially seems to have no interest in fighting for good again.

Individual scenes in the three-minute clip show how powerful the Stallone Samaritan is. Broken bones heal in no time at all, bullets don't seem to be able to harm him either, and cars weighing tons are knocked over like dominoes. Actor Pilou Asbæk (40) appears in the trailer as a diabolical opponent. The Dane already proved in the series "Game of Thrones" as Euron Greyjoy to be a worthy antagonist that one loves to hate.

Samaritan is Stallone's first starring role in a superhero film. Although he has already appeared in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", he only had the small supporting role of Stakar Ogord. In the meantime, he was not seen in "The Suicide Squad", only heard - in the original Stallone lent his voice to the shark-man Nanaue.
