Chest pain: Netanyahu spends the night in the hospital

On Wednesday evening, the Israeli ex-Prime Minister Netanyahu complained of being unwell. He then goes to a hospital. Now, after just one night, his team has given the all-clear.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been released from medical care after spending a night in hospital. "Netanyahu is back in action and getting ready for his morning walk," his office said.

Netanyahu felt unwell during a prayer in a synagogue in Jerusalem on Wednesday evening and went to the hospital for examinations. The politician, who will be 73 years old in two weeks, was "released from the Schaare-Sedek Hospital after the results of all examinations were completely normal," said the office of the former prime minister, who was again responsible for the government on November 1 candidate for the post of Prime Minister.

According to his office, Netanyahu fasted on the occasion of Yom Kippur, the holiest Jewish holiday. According to Israeli media reports, he complained of chest pains when he went to the synagogue. Prime Minister Jair Lapid wished Netanyahu, his rival in the parliamentary elections, a "quick and full recovery".

A new parliament will be elected in Israel on November 1 for the fifth time in less than four years. According to recent polls, Netanyahu's conservative Likud party is ahead of the electorate. The right-wing bloc under Likud leadership can therefore hope for an absolute majority in the Knesset. Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption, had ruled for 12 consecutive years as of 2021.
