Dröge in "ntv Frühstart": "49-euro ticket is a serious relief"

The successor to the 9-euro ticket is available, but will cost 40 euros more. Social organizations find that too much. Green parliamentary group leader Dröge defends the future price.

Will the future 49-euro ticket cost too much to be a real relief? Such criticism comes from the social association Germany, among others. The leader of the Greens, Katharina Dröge, on the other hand, defends the agreement between the federal and state governments. "If you look at the fact that people are currently paying 100 or 200 euros for a monthly ticket, then 49 euros is really a serious relief," said Dröge on "ntv Frühstart". In addition, there will continue to be social tickets.

The Greens politician said that in her hometown of Cologne there is no monthly ticket that is cheaper than 49 euros. It will be easier to drive to work in a climate-friendly way. "That means switching from the car to the train is made easier." Since the ticket should also be valid throughout Germany, the tariff structures would be "revolutionized".

Dröge praised yesterday's decision by the federal and state governments on the relief measures. "It's really a strong signal that now also gives people certainty about how to get through the winter." She turned against criticism from the federal states and the opposition, who see a relief gap in winter. "It's not like the first relief will only take effect next year." Emergency aid will already be available in December, in addition to the three relief packages that have already been decided.

Before Chancellor Scholz's trip to Beijing, Dröge called for a stronger cut-off from China in important economic sectors. Dependencies would have to be reduced. "That doesn't mean completely decoupling from China, nobody wants that. But it has to happen in sensitive areas." The lessons of Russia's energy dependency are clear: "We have to take a closer look, especially with regard to critical infrastructure and key technologies." The participation of the Chinese group Cosco in the port of Hamburg, which was largely pushed by the Chancellery, was a mistake.

Dröge called on the chancellor to be robust in Beijing. China has changed massively in questions of human rights and freedom of expression and is appearing more aggressively in foreign trade policy. "That's why the chancellor's visit can't just be a courtesy visit with business support, but the chancellor has to find very clear words." The German economy must also review its commitment to China more critically. "With a view to human rights, even German corporations must not make any compromises."
