Infamous NHS record: Millions of English people are waiting for hospital treatment

It is the highest value since records began: the number of people waiting for a routine procedure in a clinic in England has risen to seven million. And not only here there is a sad record.

The number of people on waiting lists for routine procedures in English hospitals is at an all-time high. As the national health service National Health Service (NHS) announced, at the end of August seven million people were waiting for a routine procedure in England, the largest part of Britain. That's 200,000 more than the previous month and the highest since records began in 2007.

For almost 390,000 patients, the waiting time is already more than a year, the PA news agency reported, citing the NHS. There is also an inglorious record for the waiting times for people in the emergency room in England. According to this, in September 32,776 patients had to wait more than twelve hours in the emergency room before a decision was made about inpatient admission.

Unlike the health insurance companies in Germany, the NHS health service in Great Britain is not financed by contributions, but has to cover its expenses from a budget set by the government. He is chronically underfunded. One of the promises of Brexit was that the millions of euros for Brussels would go to the NHS instead.
