"F... you" to Pilsen and UEFA: Bayern fans rant about "500 percent price increase"

Tickets for away fans in the Champions League may cost a maximum of 70 euros. FC Bayern fans have to pay exactly this 70 euros at Viktoria Pilsen - 500 percent more than a ticket would otherwise cost at the Czech club. The Munich supporters vent their anger.

The organized fans of Bayern Munich have reacted with harsh criticism to what they consider to be excessive ticket prices for the Champions League game of the German soccer record champions at Viktoria Pilsen. "500 percent price increase? F... you!" Was the headline of a message from "Club No. 12" and the groups of the south curve. In it, the supporters targeted the conditions in international football.

In the stadium they repeated this statement. In addition, the fans stayed away from the guest block until the 12th minute of the game in protest.

Pilsen is accused of having increased its price level, which is usual in the Czech league, by 500 percent with the cheapest guest card for 70 euros. It was "a shame" and "a disrespect how the fans' pockets are grabbed here," said the open letter. UEFA's price cap with an upper limit of 70 euros for the cheapest guest ticket is "useless" and Pilsen is just one example among many of the need for stricter regulation.

"The professional football system is sick and hitting the wall," the statement continued. FC Bayern is also called upon "to save football as we know and love it" and to keep the game accessible to everyone.

The high ticket prices have been a problem in football for years. UEFA tried to at least do something to counteract this by enacting various rules. For example, tickets for away fans cannot be more expensive than comparable tickets for home fans - although there are exceptions for season ticket holders, members of fan clubs and promotions. In 2019, UEFA also introduced the price cap of 70 euros for the Champions League and 45 euros for the Europa League. However, this is still far too high, emphasized the Bayern groups.
