Fines for being unpunctual: Report: FC Bayern punishes undisciplined sloppy players

FC Bayern Munich has recently been cracking down again. Julian Nagelsmann wants to sharpen the focus of the players in the decisive phase of the season with a new catalog of penalties, reports the "Bild" newspaper. The fines seem small, but there is a catch for Leroy Sané

Bayern Munich asks its pros to pay: The German soccer record champions have reintroduced a penalty catalog for their stars after a few years. This is reported by the "Bild" newspaper. Bayern did not want to comment on the request. The penalty catalog is said to have been presented to the players after the round of 16 first leg in the Champions League at Paris St. Germain (1-0). The fines for tardiness or other lack of discipline are therefore in the lower four-digit range, from 1000 to 3000 euros.

Leroy Sané recently made headlines in this regard. The national player missed the departure of the team bus for the away game at Borussia Mönchengladbach (2:3) and had to follow in a private car. Already this incident should be regulated in the new penalty catalog of Bavaria. "Of course there are also things that don't work," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić and emphasized: "Every now and then there are a few euros that it costs. We have it under control."

The project was initiated by team manager Kathleen Krüger and team psychologist Max Pelka. The sporting management around coach Julian Nagelsmann, Salihamidžić and technical director Marco Neppe have approved it.

The measure is intended to sharpen the senses in the title fight in the decisive phase of the season. Bayern is particularly concerned with "good cooperation, respect and focus on the big goals this season," says the report. In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund has caught up nine points since the restart after the World Cup and has drawn level with the leaders. In the Champions League, the second leg against the star ensemble from PSG is on Wednesday (March 8), in the DFB Cup last year's finalists SC Freiburg will play in the quarter-finals on April 4.
