The September 16, 2019 edition of WWE Raw marked the crowning of the new 2019 WWE King of The Ring. Baron Corbin defeated Chad Gable in an extremely competitive bout to win the tournament to become the 2019 King of The Ring. This is the biggest achievement in Baron Corbin’s career and it is definitely going to work as a major factor to push him into a main-event superstar. Baron Corbin is one of the best heels in WWE at present, managing to receive genuine heel heat from the audience. He is also a very talented in-ring performer and being King of The Ring is going to help him in advancing forward in any storyline he will henceforth be a part of.
The 2019 King of The Ring tournament featured 16 competitors, 8 from WWE Raw and 8 from WWE SmackDown Live. The finalists were Baron Corbin from WWE Raw and Chad Gable from WWE SmackDown. There was a perfect storytelling, where we witnessed Chad Gable rising to prominence, winning against all the odds and captivating the WWE Universe with his technical wrestling style. Gable became the fan favorite and won the WWE Universe’s favor throughout the course of the tournament. Corbin on the other hand made his way to the finals portraying a despicable heel. He also performed very well in all his matches and the final match involved the most-liked superstar and the most-hated superstar of the two rosters. The final match took place on the September 16, 2019 episode of WWE Raw in an extremely physical match. The live crowd was on their feet throughout the match and in the end, it was Baron Corbin who pinned Chad Gable following the End of Days to become the 2019 King of The Ring. The fans of course were upset because everybody wanted Chad Gable to have his moment of glory but this win for Corbin is definitely going to be a benefiting factor for Gable as well, who is now going to feud with a top heel like Corbin following his loss.
Winning the King of The Ring tournament is a prestigious achievement, as Corbin has now joined the list of names of WWE legends like ”Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Don Muraco, Harley Race, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Edge, Brock Lesnar, Booker T, William Regal and other legends who have had the honour of calling themselves The WWE King of The Ring. Winning the tournament has created legends out of superstars, Steve Austin being the best example, so we could wish all the very best for Baron Corbin as he moves forward in WWE. Chad Gable interrupted Corbin’s ascension ceremony on this week’s WWE SmackDown Live by beating him up and breaking his King of The Ring sceptre, crown and throne. We can therefore expect to see a brief feud between these two superstars for the time being, and regardless of the outcome in terms of victory and loss, both men are definitely going to be benefitted taking part in this feud.
