Kansas City Chiefs Picks & Predictions Ahead Of Showdown With Buffalo Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten off to a good start this season, as expected, though they did lose Tyreek Hill to free agency during the summer. The wide receiver is plying his trade with the Miami Dolphins, who were doing very well themselves prior to quarterback Tua Tagovaiola suffering a concussion.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes would have rued losing an important player such as Hill but still has KC at 4-1 to start the term, with their only loss coming against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3. Tight end Travis Kelce is the main target now, with Hill gone, but the Chiefs are still rolling along well, winning games and keeping their spot atop the AFC West.

Such occurrences aren’t very common in the NFL. You don’t simply lose the best WR in the game to continue winning without batting an eyelid. The Chiefs are the outright favorites to win their division and the bookmakers have them at 4/11 to do so. They’re also the second favorites to win the AFC at 11/4, behind the Buffalo Bills, who are currently attached to odds of 2/1.

The Chiefs are the second Super Bowl favorites too, at 6/1, with the Bills at 7/2.

Mahomes has thrown 15 touchdowns so far this season, only getting intercepted twice. He is one of the frontrunners for MVP this season, which is also no surprise given what we’ve seen from him these last few years.

The Chiefs and the Bills are set to clash this coming Sunday and one can well imagine how much fans are anticipating this showdown. Betting sites are sure to be rife with action, so Kansas sportsbooks promo codes should come in handy.

Both teams are heading into the contest with a 4-1 record and they’ve developed quite the rivalry over the last few years. The Chiefs beat the Bills in two successive playoff games but the Bills have outclassed them in the regular season. Bills QB Josh Allen is also playing at MVP level this season so it will be interesting to see how he does against Mahomes and the Chiefs this weekend.

The Bills are favored to come out on top this Sunday; bookies have them at 3/4 while the Chiefs are at 23/18. Fans will hope this game will be as competitive as it’s being billed but, with two of the best quarterbacks in the league going up against each other, it’s more likely to be than not.

You could check the injury report for this game out right below:

Bills

Questionable: CB Tre'Davious White (Knee)

Out: WR Jamison Crowder (Ankle)

Chiefs

Questionable: K Harrison Butker (Ankle), DE Frank Clark (Illness), RB Ronald Jones (Illness)

Out: LB Willie Gay (Suspension)

While Allen is tipped to win MVP (bookmakers have him at 2/1 while Mahomes is 9/2), the Chiefs star has thrown more TDs with fewer interceptions. He isn’t as prolific rushing the ball but that shouldn’t be held against him.

The Chiefs’ offense has averaged 31.8 points per game though it hasn’t yet gone past 400 yards per game. Their pass protection has been left wanting, however, the run block has been successful and Clyde Edwards-Helair has benefitted, having rushed for 233 yards on 50 carries so far.

Defensively, Kansas City hasn’t done very well against a grounded offense, though they’ve only allowed 83.6 yards per game. They have found it difficult to convert on tackles.

The defense is doing better against the passing offense but there’s plenty that can be done to tighten things up.

Allen has been stellar for the Bills so far this season, helping them log 30.4 points per game while they’re hitting just under 450 yards a game so far. This is a very good look for a team whose defense is also doing excellent work. Like the Chiefs, though, they’re not as great against the run, yet teams resort to the passing game by the second quarter when they’re playing them.

Their pass-rushing has anchored the defense and Tre’Davious White’s return should have the secondary functioning all the better.

That said, Buffalo hasn’t yet faced a QB of Mahommes’ caliber. It’s worth noting that he’s already dropped 40 points on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rigid defense.

We predict a Chiefs win for this one, but Josh Allen is absolutely capable of keeping the bookies honest.
