The Paris 2024 pass to allow tourists to use transport during the Olympic and Paralympic Games is open for sale on the Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) website, the Ile-de-France transport authority announced on Wednesday April 17 .
This package will allow visitors to take transport to the competition venues and will be available from July 20 to September 8.
It will cost 16 euros per day, with a decreasing rate depending on the number of days. For seven days, it will cost 70 euros to be able to travel unlimited anywhere in Ile-de-France, including to Orly and Roissy - Charles-de-Gaulle airports.
Increase in unit prices
The price of transport during the Games was the subject of controversy when they were unveiled at the end of November, due to prices considered prohibitive. The price of a single ticket will almost double between July 20 and September 8, going from 2.10 euros to 4 euros. Prices for Navigo and Imagine R passes, reserved for residents of the region, will remain unchanged.
IDFM recommends that Ile-de-France residents buy tickets in advance to avoid price increases or adopt the Liberté pass which allows them to pay as they go, at a price of 1.73 euros per ticket within Paris itself.
At the end of March, the president of IDFM, Valérie Pécresse, returned to this controversial pricing, affirming that the price of the single ticket had been set at 4 euros “so that no one buys them” and to avoid thus “counter embolisms”.
In Paris's application file for the organization of the 2024 Olympic Games, it was planned that public transport would be free for spectators.
