Baden-Württemberg: Around 141 million euros from the state for public transport rescue package

Ravensburg (dpa/lsw) - The state wants to provide almost 141 million euros for transport companies this year to compensate for the loss of income as a result of the pandemic. Transport Minister Winfried Hermann wants to present this proposal for a public transport rescue package to the cabinet on Tuesday, the "Schwäbische Zeitung" reported (Monday). The federal government contributes the same amount. It can be assumed that the cabinet will follow suit, said a ministry spokesman on Sunday when asked.

Such measures had also been taken in the previous two years. "So far we have saved public transport through the crisis with the rescue package," Hermann told the newspaper. "Especially the medium-sized transport companies in rural areas in Baden-Württemberg would not survive without a rescue package."
