'He would have to be a monk': Kanye West means nothing to Kid Cudi anymore

The musicians Kid Cudi and Kanye West have been very close for a long time. But that's gone since West's public tirade about Cudi's friendship with Pete Davidson. "I don't need that in my life," the accused now explains the break.

A few months after their public argument, US rapper Kid Cudi has now spoken in an interview about why he deleted Kanye West from his life. The two clashed after West's ex-wife Kim Kardashian and comedian Pete Davidson's relationship was revealed. Cudi has been good friends with Davidson for a long time and refused to give up that friendship for West. He reacted extremely angry.

Cudi made it clear to Esquire magazine that he no longer sees a future for himself and West. "I'm set at a point in my life where I have zero tolerance for the wrong energies. I've watched over the years so many people close to him get burned by him for doing some damn stuff did. And then they turn around and forgive him," said the 38-year-old. "And there are no repercussions. You're cool again with that man. He does it over and over again."

"I'm not one of your kids. I'm not Kim. It doesn't matter if I'm friends with Pete or not," continued the "Pursuit of Happiness" hitmaker. "If you can't be a grown man and deal with the fact that you lost your wife, that's not my damn problem." West should stand by his "shit" like everyone else. He himself has also "lost women", but was able to "commit to it".

"I don't need that in my life. I don't need it," Cudi said of a possible friendship. Unlike colleague Drake, who was also a victim of West's tirades when dating rumors surfaced about him and Kim Kardashian but later reconciled with the rapper, he stands by what he says: "It's going to take a damn miracle for that Me and this man will be friends again. I don't see that happening. He would have to become a monk."

Speaking to Esquire, the 38-year-old also revealed that he suffered a stroke while in rehab in 2016. Accordingly, he was admitted because of his depression and drug addiction. After two weeks he was transferred to a hospital because his speech and mobility were impaired. "Everything was broken," said Cudi.

The withdrawal lasted many months. However, he considers himself lucky that his "brain is still strong" and that he has not lost anything. Mental health now also plays a major role in many of his songs: "I'm ready to wear these shoes and be a role model." He's grown up now and has learned to love himself. "And I couldn't have said that six years ago. Now I can say that with confidence and I really believe in it and it shows."
