Hesse: Family injured in accident on A66, sometimes life-threatening

Hanau (dpa / lhe) - A family of five was injured in a car accident on the A66 in the Main-Kinzig district - including a seven-year-old boy who was taken to a clinic by rescue helicopter. A drunk driver lost control of his vehicle on Friday evening because of increased speeds on the rain-soaked road, the police said. The 32-year-old crashed his car into the family vehicle between the Hanau-Nord and Erlensee junctions. As a result, both cars skidded and came to a halt off the roadway, badly damaged.

The seven-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident. A three-year-old girl escaped with minor injuries, police said. Three injured adults were also taken to the hospital. The 32-year-old was unharmed. At the scene, police found the man was under the influence of alcohol. The public prosecutor's office ordered a blood test and the seizure of his driver's license. The section of motorway near the accident site remained completely closed in the direction of Frankfurt for about four hours.
