Bad Homburg vor der Höhe (dpa/lhe) - Norbert Fischer is the new president of the State Fire Brigade Association (LFV) in Hesse. At the association meeting on Saturday in Bad Homburg, Fischer was elected successor to long-standing President Ralf Ackermann. Ackermann was at the head of the association for 28 years and said goodbye to retirement, as the LFV announced on Sunday. Fischer previously served as Vice President.
The state fire brigade association represents the Hessian fire brigades with their more than 76,500 active emergency services. In addition, there are around 500,000 supporting members in 2,600 volunteer fire brigades, 26,500 youth fire brigades, 13,000 children, as well as 57 plant fire brigades and seven professional fire brigades.
