Hesse: Trial against suspected right-wing extremists in Frankfurt

He is said to have sought an arsenal of weapons and planned attacks with explosive devices. As of Tuesday, a suspected right-wing extremist has to answer before the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court.

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - He is said to have planned attacks with firearms and explosive devices for right-wing extremist motives and to have planned to form a terrorist organization. As of next Tuesday, a man from northern Hesse will have to answer to the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court (OLG) for attempting to found a terrorist organization and preparing for a serious act of violence that endangers the state.

The federal prosecutor's office accuses him of sharing the ideology of the so-called Atomwaffe Division (AWD), whose supporters represent a racist, anti-Semitic and National Socialist world view. In the summer of 2021, he made the decision to ignite a "racial" and civil war in Germany within three years in the sense of the AWD ideology, the Karlsruhe authorities announced in April. The group was originally formed in the United States and has since branched out around the world.

According to the indictment, Marvin E., then 19 years old, is said to have tried to recruit like-minded people with experience in dealing with weapons and pyrotechnics as members of an "AWD Division Hessen". He is also said to have tried to procure the arsenal of weapons required for the attacks.

The Senate, which was made up of three professional judges during the main hearing, must decide whether juvenile criminal law will be applied against the accused, since he is said to have committed the offenses as an adolescent. Marvin E. has been in custody since his arrest in September 2021.
