Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Former Head of State Chancellery Frank Tidick died

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The former head of the State Chancellery in Schwerin, Frank Tidick, is dead. As the state government announced on Tuesday, the SPD politician died on Friday after a short and serious illness in his adopted home of Hamburg at the age of 81.

Tidick entered the service of the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in 1998 and initially worked as State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2001, then Prime Minister Harald Ringstorff (SPD) made him head of the State Chancellery and thus one of his closest employees. In 2005, Tidick retired from active politics, but remained connected to the country as a supporter of art and culture, especially on the Darß.

"Frank Tidick took on responsibility for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at a time when our country was facing major challenges," Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) recalled of his political work. New economic fields such as the healthcare industry have been developed for the country and the new debt has been reduced. "We're still benefiting from that today," stressed Schwesig. With his great experience and his prudent manner, Tidick made a decisive contribution to the good development of the country.
