Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - In North Rhine-Westphalia, the corona incidence on Thursday was largely unchanged at 244.9, according to the Robert Koch Institute. The day before, the RKI had reported 242.2 new infections within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants. The NRW index was still higher than the national average, which was 201.9 on Thursday. A week ago (November 24), the incidence in NRW was 238.4.
In the most populous federal state, 9,253 new infections were confirmed within 24 hours. 45 new deaths related to the coronavirus have been registered.
However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
