Saxony: 977 regional development projects

Dresden (dpa/sn) - Almost 1000 projects for regional development in Saxony have applied for the second round of the competition. The "simul Mitmachfonds" competition supports the development and implementation of ideas in the Saxon regions, the Ministry for Regional Development announced on Monday. A total of 977 ideas were submitted in the four categories of community, cooperation, project and ReWIR.

"This gives us the opportunity to continue to support sustainable ideas and to accompany their implementation in the villages, communities and cities of our Saxon regions," said Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU). The 500 best ideas receive prize money of between 5,000 and 250,000 euros. A total of 7.6 million euros is available for the projects.

The most creative project ideas are to be selected by a jury for the award in September. The awards will then be presented at a festive final event.
